Charles Rowley - Director
Charles has 23 years of Delegated Authority Experience, most recently as Head of Delegated Authority at Catlin (now XL Catlin) for 13 years. He led the team that helped grow the Delegated Authority portfolio from GPW USD 80 M to 1.1 Bn, expanding the Coverholder client base alongside Underwriters from 120 to over 800. He chaired LMA Delegated Authority Operations Committee leading the market initiative which developed the vision and key priorities now incorporated within the London Market Group Delegated Authority Target Operating Model. He has presented at Lloyd’s numerous times including at the CEO Strategy evening on the Ease of Doing Business, on Coverholder Data standards, Conduct Roadshows and the ITC London Panel.
He studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, rowed for the University Lightweight Rowing team and more recently completed the Lloyd’s London Business School – Executive leadership program.
Jonathan Eames - Associate
Jonathan has over 30 years of Delegated Authority Experience from both a broker and carrier perspective including 6 years at Catlin as DA manager then as Syndicate Operations Director, 8 years as Technical Director at THB Group and 9 years as Head of Technical Services for Bradstock Group. He also has extensive IT experience having worked for a commercial software house in the London insurance market, As well as a DAS associate, he runs his own technology company, Grangetec Solutions Ltd., the creator of Dellegance, a web based outsource management framework particularly suited to the insurance industry.
Stephen Paddison - Associate
Stephen has over 30 years’ experience in the UK, London and Lloyd’s markets. He was the DA Manager at CNA Hardy and before that spent 7 years as the Manager in the Lloyd’s DA team. Prior to that he was a senior property underwriter in both the Lloyd’s and company markets.
Hugh Page - Associate
Hugh originally trained in Physics (Trinity College Dublin) and Finance (University College Dublin) before transitioning to capital markets where he successfully applied his analytical skills in equity investment management and equity research, covering a wide range of sectors and companies. He has now turned his skill-set towards working directly with companies in order to deliver meaningful and measurable value. What differentiates and defines Hugh is his expertise in using his Strategy to Valuation Multidisciplinary (SVM©) model to: 1) leverage many disciplines in order to dig deep into a company’s value creation process; 2) identify what levers will have the most positive impact on underlying value; 3) construct a coherent plan to pull these levers.
Marcus Elwes - Associate
Marcus, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, has since 1989 acquired experience over a wide range of disciplines, having spent 25 years on the broking side of the business, before moving to underwriting in 2014, most recently being the DUA Manager at Arch Insurance (syndicate and company). There he developed and rolled out a DUA framework for coverholder and binding authority approval and oversight. Marcus was instrumental in developing a Conduct and Product Risk framework at Arch and spearheaded the team who successfully obtained a ‘Green’ rating for Conduct Risk from Lloyds in early 2017 and in the process has become a subject matter expert on the current processes around Conduct Risk management.
James Littley - Consultant
James has 16 years of experience in delegated authority management most recently as Head of
Delegated Underwriting at The Channel Syndicate. Immediately prior to joining Channel, James spent 5 years at W/R/B where he successfully designed and built a delegated authority function as part of a new Lloyd’s managing agency application. James also spent 5 years at Catlin as the Deputy Group Binding Authority Manager and began his journey working for QBE and Hiscox.
Crispin marsland-Roberts - ASSOCIATE
Crispin has over 15 years experience in a commercial, operational an project management capacity in a variety of industries from fresh produce to finance. He has a passion for developing processes to drive internal efficiencies and cost reductions and has worked with a number of SME’s to deliver results in this area. Crispin has qualifications in Prince2 Foundation, ITEL, and CISI Financial Regulation & Financial Derivatives, level 3.
Isabel Clarke - Consultant
Isabel studied Politics at Queen Mary University of London for three years before graduating in 2019. Her background of Politics and Economics provided her with insight into financial markets and policy; useful in the world of insurance where regulations are constantly changing and evolving. She joined D A Strategy in September 2019 and has gained experience in policy issuance, onboarding new coverholders and audit reviews. She is a Cert CII member and is working towards completing her London Market Insurance qualifications.
